Research Abstract |
We have analyzed how cell cycle arrests and how cell proliferation interacts with cell differentiation during development. We showed that silencing of cycin D1 expression is required for maintenance of the cardiomyocyte cell cycle arrest, and that cycin D1 represses cardiomyocyte differentiation. These results are important for understanding tissue morphogenesis, homeostasis, and oncogenesis.
