Outline of Final Research Achievements |
By verifying bacterial interactions in real-world samples, we aim to establish a new technique for isolation and analysis of complex microorganisms. First, we attempted one-cell visualization of microbial interactions by CRIF using model bacteria to establish a non-destructive bacterial interaction system, and succeeded in detecting cells responding to bacterial signals in the interaction. Furthermore, by applying this method, we discovered a novel bacterial communication mechanism in field soil samples, which has not been reported before. We also focused on microscopic membrane vesicles (MVs), which transfer information between bacteria across genera and species in complex microbial systems. As a result, certain findings were obtained regarding the iron transport function and cell specificity of MVs in complex systems.
