Research Abstract

Synthetic methodologies were developed for endohedral fullerenes C_<60> and C_<70> encapsulating a helium atom, hydrogen molecules, or a water molecule, under mild conditions. The properties of a single molecule completely isolated from the out side world and outer fullerene cages were studied. Furthermore, open-cage fullerene derivatives were used for organic photovoltaic devices showing a high V_<oc> values.
