Research Abstract

「海底下の大河」の活動について数年から数千万年にわたるタイムスケールでの時間変動を評価することを研究目的とする。「大河」の活動記録として海底面上に形成される熱水性鉱床と熱水域の生物群集に着目し、地球化学的な解析と生物学的な解析によって年代情報を取得する手法をそれぞれ確立する。次に対象とする熱水域に対してそれらの解析を行って、「大河」の活動の時間変動に伴う熱水特性の変遷史と熱水域固有生物種の進化史の関連を議論する。
