| Research Abstract |
本研究では,地球規模の海洋底地殻中の移流を「海底下の大河」と呼び,4つの「大河」で起きている物理・化学反応および微生物活動の素過程とそれらの時間変動を明らかにし,「大河」の形成及び地質-生命相互作用の制約要因を,バッチ式,フロー式,高速摩擦式の熱水装置を駆使して,実験室での再現実験によって決定する。研究期間の前半では,自然環境での現象を充分な精度で再現できる実験系と解析装置を構築する。この装置を用いて,研究期間後半では,装置に改良を加えつつ,素過程と相互作用を詳細に解析する実験と分析を行う。実験系による素過程の解明は,実際の海底下環境で起きている現象を説明する理論を構築する上で欠かせない検証作業であり,計画研究A01-A04班における調査・観察の成果を用いて,現場観測と実験相互のフィードバックを重ね,より厳密な理論の構築に努める。
