Research Abstract

多細胞動物において、次世代を生む生殖細胞の形成・分化過程には、RNAレベルでの遺伝子発現制御(RNAプログラム)が中心的役割を担うことが示唆されている。本研究では、ゼブラフィッシュ始原生殖細胞形成を、RNAプログラムを主要な分子基盤とした「生殖質による生殖細胞の決定」と「生殖細胞決定プログラムの誤作動の防御とその解除による生殖細胞・体細胞の分化確立」と捉え、mRNA-蛋白質複合体(mRNP)の局在化による生殖質・生殖顆粒の形成機構、生殖顆粒を構成するmRNPの生理機能、生殖質mRNAの分解・翻訳抑制装置、および、その分解・翻訳抑制の解除に働く生殖細胞特異的機構の解明を進める。
