Research Abstract

経済発展を続ける東アジア地域から日本に飛来する越境大気汚染物質、特にエアロゾルの影響は今後さらに深刻化していくと予想され、日本における環境問題の最重要課題である。しかしながら、エアロゾルの発生源や輸送・沈着のプロセスに関する情報は集積し始めているが、エアロゾルの植物や人間などに対する影響については、ほとんど研究が行われていないのが現状である。本研究課題は、エアロゾルが日本を含む東アジアの森林を構成している樹木に与える影響を実験的に解明することを主目的にしている。そこで、異なる樹木の葉表面および葉内部におけるエアロゾルの吸収と吸着状態を、各種イメージング技術により可視化し、樹木の成長や生理学的機能との関連性を明らかにする。さらに、本研究課題で得られる知見と他の研究グループによるエアロゾル曝露実験やフィールドでのエアロゾル量に関する知見を総合的に考察し、東アジアの森林に対するエアロゾルの影響の評価を総合的に考察する。
