Research Abstract |
With the various associated field surveys, a comprehensive model system has been developed to evaluate the propagation processes of multiple environmental stresses onto a reef ecosystem and to quantitatively describe the carbonate system dynamics and organic matter & nutrient dynamics in the reef. Besides, as one of the most critical and novel model for the reef ecosystem response modeling under multiple environmental stresses, a “coral polyp model” has been successfully developed. The processes to yield the terrestrial environmental loads have been analyzed in relation to the socio-economic aspects of the local society, which is crucial for establishing an effective management scheme of man-made environmental stresses.
