Outline of Annual Research Achievements

学術的問いである「階層構造を踏まえた気候システムの理解に本質的な物理過程を明らかにする」ため、本研究課題は「気候モデル化した雲解像モデルNICAM」と「雲解像モデル化した気候モデルMIROC」のシミュレーション結果を観測データ等と共に比較解析を行い、必要不可欠な物理過程を明らかにすることで、適切な再現性能評価手法を確立する。
令和4年度も昨年度に引き続きNICAMおよびMIROCの長期気候実験データ、NICAM HiresMIP 実験を用いて各階層における気候モデルの再現性評価を行い、必要不可欠な物理過程を明らかにした。熱帯沿岸域の降水日変化を現実的に再現には、積雲対流活動に伴う冷気外出流を適切に表現することが必要であることを明らかにし、数値モデルにおける冷気外出流の平均強度のバイアスは対流圏中下層の湿度に関係があることが示唆された。マッデン・ジュリアン振動(MJO)の再現性については、先行研究で重要視されてきた局所的な湿潤過程の他に、背景循環場の再現性が重要であることを明らかにし、背景循環場によって卓越する赤道波が変わることを示した。気候モデルにおける季節進行(モンスーンの開始時期)の再現性は、季節内変動や熱帯擾乱が活発な年は難しく、不活発な年は境界条件である海面水温の再現性に依存し相対的に高いことが明らかになった。一方で、東アジアにおける梅雨前線の北上は雲解像モデルであっても観測値より早く、再現に不十分な点が多くあることが示唆された。
