Outline of Final Research Achievements

The purpose of this research group was to integrate engineering and medical/biological approaches to construct individual organoids on a chip with the necessary functions. We established a luminescence monitoring system using signal reporter human iPS cells, construction of mature cardiac organoids and their firing point control technology by localized electrical stimulation. We also established a polysaccharide-based ultra-high-density culture technology for iPS cells and a culture system using doughnut-shaped culture vessels and oxygen-permeable polymethylpentene culture vessels. By combining these elemental technologies, we established an organoid culture method that can be mounted on chip devices.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
