Outline of Annual Research Achievements

山田はPeccei-Quinn対称性がなぜ高精度で実現されているかの問題について探究し、それが共形場の理論における性質から自然に現れるモデルにおいてアクシオンダークマターの存在量が観測値と自然に一致することを明らかにした。川崎はアクシオン・バブルからの大質量原始ブラックホール生成に関して,バブルのクラスタリングが原始ブラックホールの等曲率揺らぎや角度相関に与える影響を解析し,観測から厳しい制限が与えられることを明らかにし,さらに観測と無矛盾なモデルの構築を行った。殷はeV質量付近のダークマターについて2022年度に理論的提案した効率的な探索手法に基づき、2023年度では実験を行い一部の結果の発表を行った。その結果,eVダークマターについて世界最高感度の制限を得ることができた。高橋は殷とともに,アクシオンの質量が一次相転移によって生じるシナリオに着目し,バブル形成がその周囲にアクシオンの波を作り出し,アクシオン波がフェルミ加速するという新規な現象を発見した。とくにアクシオンがフェルミ加速を受けることによって,一次相転移終了後にはほぼ相対論的となる。このような現象が,post-inflationary scenarioにおいても生じることが分かったのは非常に興味深い。さらに,アクシオンミニクラスターや重力波など,それが与える宇宙論的な含意を議論した。北嶋は軽いダークマターの候補の一つであるダークフォトンに着目し、コヒーレントに生成される可能性や宇宙ひもから生成される可能性を明らかにした。特に、NANOGravによる背景重力波の観測を宇宙ひもで説明できる可能性を明らかにした。

Reason

高橋,山田および殷らは,アクシオンの質量が一次相転移によって生じる場合に着目し,アクシオンの生成量が従来の二次相転移やクロスオーバーの場合と比べて大きく増加することを見出した。更に高橋と殷らはバブルによってアクシオン場が排除され,その周りにアクシオンの波が作られるという新規な物理現象を発見し,pre-inflatinoaryシナリオであるにかかわらず,バブル生成によって空間的にアクシオンが局在化することを示した。この一連の発見は,アクシオンがダークマターを説明する場合の質量や光子との結合定数の推定に大きな影響を与えた。また殷はeVスケールの質量を持つアクシオンの探索をおこない,世界最高感度の制限を与えることに成功した。また北嶋,高橋,殷らは,QCDと結合するドメインウォールの崩壊によってnHz領域にピークを持つ背景重力波が生成することを指摘し,それが最近NANOGravに代表されるパルサータイミングアレイで発見された重力波を説明することから,国際的にも広く注目を集めた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

山田はアクシオンの運動に伴って現れるシュウィンガー効果の理論的な起源を明らかにし、その宇宙論的帰結を探究する。また、強い相互作用を持つダークマターのモデルに対する観測的な制限を明らかにする。川崎はノンポロジカル・ソリトンであるQボールによる原始ブラックホールの生成,ステライル・ニュートリノの生成,重力波の生成について明らかにし,宇宙のダークマターや物質・反物質非対称性の起源を説明できるかを議論する。殷はeVダークマターについて、徹底的に調べ、発見あるいは棄却を目指す。また、同時進行でeVダークマターよりさらに軽いダークマター候補についての新たな実験的な手法の提案を行いたい。北嶋はより精緻化された格子シミュレーションを用いて宇宙ひも起源のダークフォトン生成を解析し、残存量をより正確に算出する。また、宇宙ひものループによる重力波生成過程をシミュレーションに取り入れ、より正確なスペクトルを算出する。
