Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2022年度は、KAGRAの観測データを用いたゲージボゾン探索を進めた。光リング共振器を用いたアクシオン探索においては、2021年5月に行った試験運転の観測データを解析し、初の上限値を設定した(arXiv:2303.035947)。また、光リング共振器のアップグレードを進め、2021年5月の試験運転時に比べ、2桁以上の感度向上に成功した。
ゲージボゾン探索では、KAGRAの2020年の観測データを用いている。これまでは約7時間のデータを用いた試験的なデータ解析を行っていたが、より長時間のデータを利用した本格的な解析を進めた。ゲージボゾンの結合定数の算出には、鏡の物質の違いによる効果、レーザー光が3 kmの腕を往復するのにかかる有限の時間の効果、鏡の位置によってゲージボゾンの場の位相が異なる効果の3つを正しく入れる必要がある。最初の2点についてはすでに解析に取り入れたが、3点目については、ゲージボゾン場の偏極や進行方向といった方向依存性を考慮に入れる必要があり、そのための計算コードの開発を進めた。解析結果は2023年6月にLIGO-Virgo-KAGRAコラボレーション内でレビューされ、その後公表予定である。
光リング共振器を用いたアクシオン探索実験DANCEにおいては、2021年5月行った12日間に及ぶ試験運転からの観測データの解析を進めた。特に安定だった最初の24時間分のデータを利用して、4e-16 eVから2e-12 eVまでの3桁以上に渡る広範な質量領域に上限値をつけることに成功した。先行研究の上限値を更新することはできなかったものの、磁場を使わずに光共振器で探索した結果としては世界初の上限値である。
この試験運転時には、s偏光とp偏光が光リング共振器に同時に共振しないという問題があったが、補助共振器を導入することにより同時共振が可能となるように改良した。補助共振器の振動雑音を差し引くことなどにより、これまでに2桁以上の感度向上に成功している。

Reason

2022年度は、DANCEの初期観測運転の結果をまとめることができ、KAGRAの実データ解析も順調に進んでいる。DANCEの装置改良も進み、おおむね順調に進展していると言える。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

LIGO-Virgo-KAGRAコラボレーションでのO4観測開始が2023年5月と遅れたものの、2023年度は重力波検出器では世界初となるアクシオン観測データが取得できる予定であり、それに向けてデータ較正手法やデータ解析パイプラインの整備を推進する。DANCEにおいても、様々な雑音低減やアップグレードを進め、引き続き研究を推進していく。
