Research Abstract |
In order to understand environmental and cultural changes during the pre-and pro to-historic times in the Ryukyu archipelagos, we conducted two main approaches. One is the excavation of the Fensa Gusuku Shellmidden, which is dated late Shellmidden and Gusuku periods. The excavation team consisted of not only archaeologists but also other scientific areas. The analyses of the interdisciplinary approach have revealed that there was enormous environmental and cultural changes between the two periods. The another approach was a total of nine study meetings. More than 70 presentations were given. The meeting is characterized by as follows. a) It covered from Tane island to Sakishima islands. b)Most presenters were young ones. c)It covered other islands in the world, such as Oceanea, California Channel islands, and Caribbean Islands. d) It consisted of not only archaeologists but also other fields. As a results, extremely unique aspects of cultural and environmental were understood.
