Research Abstract |
1)南海トラフ付加体浅部の砂岩、凝灰岩、シルト質泥岩および粘土質泥岩の4試料について、掘削地点C0002の海底下1 km条件(温度42℃、封圧37 MPa、間隙水圧29 MPa)、および軸方向変位速度1 μm/sで三軸摩擦実験を行った結果、粘土鉱物含有量の増加に伴って定常摩擦係数が低下し、すべり弱化が明瞭になる傾向が認められた。 2)日本海溝掘削により得られたプレート境界断層浅部、およびその上・下盤の泥質堆積物試料について、有効圧0~40 MPaの下で定差圧流量法により透水実験を行った結果、プレート境界断層試料の原位置深度相当有効圧下の浸透率が上・下盤の堆積物試料より2桁以上も小さかった。プレート境界断層試料と上・下盤の堆積物試料では粘土鉱物含有量に大きな違いがあり、プレート境界断層とその上・下盤の透水性の違いは、粘土鉱物含有量の違いを反映していると考えられる。 3)モンモリロナイト・石英混合ガウジについて、垂直応力5 MPa、変位速度3 μm/s ~ 3 cm/s、含水条件で摩擦実験を行った結果、モンモリロナイトを20~40 wt%含むガウジの摩擦強度の変位速度依存性が15 cm以上の大変位、30 μm/s ~ 3 mm/sの速度範囲で負となることが明らかとなった。変位量の増加に伴う断層内部組織の変化によって、速度強化から速度弱化へと変化した可能性がある。 4)藍閃石片岩ガウジについて、温度20~400℃、有効垂直応力20~200 MPa、変位速度0.1~100 μm/sで摩擦実験を行った結果、摩擦強度の変位速度依存性が温度上昇に伴って低下し、有効垂直応力の増加に伴って増加する傾向が認められ、200℃では全有効垂直応力下で速度弱下となり、150 MPa以上では多くの温度条件で速度強化となった。以上の結果は、玄武岩を母岩とする断層が、震源域では低有効垂直応力下、すなわち高間隙水圧下ですべりが不安定で固着すべりを起こしやすいことを示唆している。
