Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Plant cell wall is regarded as not only a dynamic structure responsible for the regulation of plant growth and differentiation, but as an intelligent system capable of processing information from the environment. To date, we do not understand the molecular mechanisms that render the cell wall capable of mediating information processing and self-regulation. In this research, we examined importance of plant cell wall function in the aspect of plant parasitic nematode infection mechanisms and of regulation of plant meristem. We have identified nematode attractant. Further, we have also found many nematode effector protein and plant factors responsible for nematode infection to plants. On the other hand, we have identified downstream of CLE peptides as a signaling molecule which regulate plant meristem activity. Further, CUC signaling pathway was also examined.
