Outline of Annual Research Achievements

平成27年度はグラフェン並びに遷移金属カルコゲナイド、窒化ホウ素をはじめとする原子層物質の基礎物性に関する理論研究、さらにそれらを組み合わせた複合材料の研究が行われた。グラフェンに関しては積層グラフェンにおいて電子間相互作用に起因する低温での絶縁体化に関する研究が実験グループとの共同で行われた。また2枚の半無限グラフェンシートを接続する量子ポイントコンタクト構造において、準束縛状態が形成される条件および電気伝導特性が明らかになった。これらはグラフェンの電子デバイスへの応用に際して有用であると期待される。またグラフェンの光応用技術に向けた基礎研究としては、THz電磁波におけるグラフェンのスイッチング機構の可能性が検討された。遷移金属カルコゲナイド系では、電気伝導におけるスピン依存についての定量的な計算が行われ、正孔バンドで極めて長いスピン寿命を持つことが明らかになった。これは原子層物質のおけるスピントロニクスの基礎技術構築において重要な情報を与える。原子層の化学修飾の効果に関する研究が第一原理的手法で行われた。2層グラフェン系において、B原子あるいはN原子をドープした場合、それぞれドープされた原子はイオン化し、キャリアは系全体に広がること、またSTMにより、ドープされたB原子およびN原子は、同定可能であることが明らかになった。また任意の原子層膜を組み合わせた系での層間相互作用を取り扱う理論も構築され、様々な複合原子薄膜への応用の端緒が付けられた。

Reason

グラフェンの基礎物性に関して順調な研究の進展があった。具体的には、積層グラフェンやグラフェンナノ構造における電気伝導、また光学特性が明らかになり、応用へ向けた基礎研究が蓄積された。また遷移金属カルコゲナイドではスピン軌道相互作用に起因する性質の詳しい研究がが大いに進展した。スピンに依存した物理はグラフェンにはない特徴であり、スピントロニクスへ発展させる上で重要な鍵となる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

グラフェン、遷移金属カルコゲナイド、窒化ホウ素を始めとする様々な原子層物質の研究を引き続き推進する。原子層膜における電子間相互作用の物理、とりわけ原子層膜上での超伝導の可能性の探究は今後の大きな課題の一つである。これらの研究には対象物質の広範な探索かつ電子構造の正しい把握と適切なモデル化が必要であり、第一原理計算の手法を用いたより広範囲にわたる物質探索が期待される。また同時に原子薄膜上での多体効果を効率的に扱う理論手法の開発が求められる。また異種2次元物質同士の接合、2次元物質と3次元物質の界面効果についても理論研究を行う。
