Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Autophagy, a protein degradation system, induces a memory destabilization upon retrieval. Complete retrograde amnesia is accompanied by erasure of memory trace. Adult neurogenesis plays an important role in the maintenance of hippocampal memory capacity through recovery of saturated neuronal circuits. Overlapping memory trace is indispensable for linking, but not recall, of individual memories.
