Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Animals make memories depending on the sensory information and their environments, although most such memories are forgotten within a few hours as short term memories. We study on the molecular and neuronal mechanisms of active forgetting by using the olfactory learning in C. elegans as a model. In this study, we found that the signaling pathway that are conserved from nematodes to vertabrates properly regulates active forgetting of olfactory learning in the olfactory neurons and their downstream interneurons.
