Outline of Annual Research Achievements

今年度はAuイオンを含むπ積層分子(イオンワイヤ)の伝導特性について一定の成果を得た。伝導度ヒストグラムのピーク値から単分子接合の伝導度を3.9×10-4G0(AuAg_wire 1)、1.6×10-4G0 (AuAg_wire 2)と決定した。ここで量子化コンダクタンスG0 は、G0 = 2e^2^/hである。一方、Agイオン挿入前のAuイオンワイヤの電気伝導度は5.7×10-3 G0 (Au_wire 1)、5.1×10-3G0 (Au_wire 2)である。AuイオンワイヤにAgイオンを挿入することで、電気伝導度が一桁以上低下することが分かった。数ナノスケールの分子接合において、その電気伝導度GはG~exp(-BL)(B:減衰定数、L:ワイヤ長)で表される。減衰定数Bは電子の輸送し易さの指標であり、その値が小さいほど、より遠くまで電気を流し易い。AuAgバイメタルイオンワイヤではBの値は0.25で、AuイオンワイヤではBの値は0.05となり、Bの値がAgイオン挿入により大きく増加している。異種金属挿入により、電気伝導パスであるAuイオンワイヤの原子間距離が開き伝導軌道の重なりが小さくなったため、電気伝導度が減少するとともに減衰定数が増加したと考えられる。
計測システムの構築に関しては、今年度は電気伝導度とSERSの同時計測装置、熱起電力の計測装置の構築に成功した。

電気伝導度とSERSの同時計測装置、熱起電力の計測装置の構築など、本研究を推進するに必要な計測システムが立ち上がった。そして、電気伝導度計測、STM計測を中心に、パイ分子の基礎的な物性が明らかになりつつあるから。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

単一パイ分子の物性を、外部摂動によって自在制御することを目指す。特に、スマネン分子など湾曲したパイ分子の物性を機械的な摂動によって、構造を変調させることで物性を制御することなどを目指す。
