| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
平成28年度は以下の研究成果を達成した。
（１）単層グラフェンに強電界を印加することによる両極性スピン変換の達成と、そのスピン変換機構が逆スピンホール効果であることの決定（同時期に報告された逆ラシュバ＝エーデルシュタイン効果、という主張が誤りであることを明確に証明）、（２）単層カーボンナノチューブにおけるスピン変換が負のスピンホール角によって決定されていることの発見、（３）2次元電子系におけるスピン輸送とスピン変換の実現、（４）Bi/Ag系における新スピン変換機構である逆ラシュバ＝エーデルシュタイン効果の大きさの定量的評価（従来の報告よりも効果は1桁程度小さい可能性があることを示唆する）、（５）シリコン、ゲルマニウムにおけるスピン緩和時間の温度依存性の精密評価、（６）スピンレーザー実現のためのGaAs/AlGaAs(110)量子井戸におけるスピン緩和時間増強の発見。
Physical Review LettersやNature Materialsなどを始めとする有力ジャーナルで成果発信し、新聞報道などを通じた成果の社会還元にもよく取り組めた年度であった。ドイツやアメリカとの国際共同研究も順調に進行している。

Reason
当初の計画通りに研究成果は発信できている。成果が掲載される学術誌もPhysical Review LettersやNature Materials、Physical Review Bなどトップジャーナルが非常に多く、成果のインパクトは非常に大きい。論文の発信、プレス発表、企業との共同研究、国際共同研究など領域の目指す方向性に合致した先進的かつ国際的な成果と研究推進が行われている。今後、班内、領域内共同研究、特に理論家との連携を更に強化することで、更なる研究の発展が目指せる。

引き続き国際共同研究・領域内共同研究を強化しながら本領域の目指す新物性の開拓や共通学理の理解に向けてこのペースで研究を推進する。従来の常識をひっくり返すような、驚きに溢れた成果の発信を目指したい。
