Outline of Annual Research Achievements

村上は、テルルの結晶がカイラルな構造のため伝導帯が放射状の特異なスピン構造を持つことを見いだした。さらにカイラルな系では電流を流すと平行ないし反平行に軌道磁化・スピン磁化が現れることを見いだした。また非典型的スピン構造を持つ表面状態の物性研究も行った。さらにカーボンナノチューブのツイストモードが、スピン回転結合を介しスピン流を生むことを予言した。
永長は、ワイルフェルミオンでの電子間相互作用の効果を、繰り込み群や厳密解を用いて解析した。エネルギー分散が傾いていると、チェレンコフ輻射や特異な非単調分散関係が相互作用で生じることを見出し、ワイルモット絶縁体という新しいモット絶縁体を理論的に提唱した。また、トポロジカル絶縁体薄膜でのアキシオン絶縁体の理論を構築し、量子化電気磁気効果の出現条件を明らかにした。
前川は熱、スピン及び電気エネルギーの相互変換現象を解明するため、金属と磁性絶縁体の接合系での熱流により磁性体の緩和が変調される現象に着目し、ある温度領域で自発的にマイクロ波発振が起こることを非平衡グリーン関数法により示した。
バウアーはスピンホール磁気抵抗を用いた、スピン転送トルクによるYIGの強磁性共鳴の理論を構築した。またポンププローブ空間分解スペクトロスコピーでのマグノン-ポーラロン励起を理論的に同定した。また複雑な磁性体の温度依存スピン相関を扱えるスピンシミュレーションプログラムを確立した。これはフェリ磁性体や反強磁性体でのスピンゼーベック効果の符号変化等を扱える。
多々良は熱輸送現象の理論的定式化を行った。従来の枠組は計算が煩雑で、平衡流の寄与を注意深く差し引く必要がある欠陥を持つため、この欠陥を改善した熱輸送の理論体系の構築を行った。これにより使いやすく正確な理論体系を熱輸送現象で実現し、また、金属中の電子に対して電場と温度差の効果は同様に働くという推測を裏付けた。

Reason

この新学術領域研究で開始した、カイラルな系における電流誘起の軌道磁化の研究は、古典的なソレノイドとの類推という単純な着想に基づくものであったが、実際に期待通りに軌道磁化が現れることが理論的に立証できた。さらにテルルなどの物質の例も見つけることができ、こうしたカイラルな結晶構造を持つ系がスピン変換現象の研究に対して理論、実験両面で波及効果をもたらすと考えられ、これは当初予想しなかった進展である。
また従来実現が困難と思われてきた量子化電気磁気効果が、トポロジカル絶縁体薄膜における閉じ込めから来る有限サイズ効果で実現されることは、予想しなかった結果で、多くの実験的研究を刺激した。また、ワイルフェルミオン系における相互作用効果が、バンド分散の形を大きく変えることは非自明な結論であり、さらに有機導体alpha-BEDT塩などの現実的な系で観測される可能性がある。
さらに、最新の実験結果での予期しなかった新発見が新たな理論構築の進展にもつながっている。スピンゼーベック効果の2度の符号変化、またマグノンとフォノンのコヒーレントな結合は当初予想しなかったものだが、こうした現象に対して理論の立場から理解を与えることが出来た。また今回構築した磁性絶縁体のスピンシミュレーションプログラムは、結果として非常に有効であることが分かり、世界的に重要な成果である。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

村上は、フォノンによるスピン流生成について、スピン流とフォノンの相互変換やそれらの結合波の理論的な記述を行う。また強磁性薄膜でのマグノンのベリー曲率の効果について、双極子および交換相互作用を考慮し、バンド交差でのベリー曲率の増大やそれによる効果を調べる。また新しいスピン変換現象をもたらす様々なトポロジカル物質相の研究を引き続き進め、物質探索を行う。
永長はトポロジカル絶縁体が磁性を持つ場合の量子化異常ホール効果に関連し、磁区構造、磁壁での物性を調べる。特に磁壁の電子状態や電荷分布から、電場による駆動が可能か調べる。またスキルミオン等のトポロジカルスピン構造の可能性も調べる。また、ブロッホ状態のベリー位相が、バンド間遷移に伴う光電流を誘起する現象(シフトカレント)を非平衡グリーン関数法で定式化し、光強度依存性や電子間相互作用の効果などを調べる。
前川は、熱からスピン流が生成されるスピンゼーベック効果とスピンペルチェ効果との相反性を調べ、熱、スピン及び電気エネルギーの相互変換を統一的に記述する理論的枠組みの提案を目指す。
バウアーは国内外の実験・理論グループとの緊密な連携により研究を引き続き進める。マグノン-ポーラロン励起の同定という成果を契機に、熱勾配や電場によるスピン輸送でのスピン変換現象を追究する。またスピンシミュレーション手法をさらに発展させ、マグノンポーラロンの形成や操作、フォトンやフォノンへのコヒーレントな変換を扱えるようにする。
多々良は、ジャロシンスキー守谷相互作用の出現メカニズムを考察し、平衡スピン流によるドップラー効果との関係を調べる。また同様のドップラー効果を、磁性をもつラシュバ系でも探索しそのもたらす物性を調べる。さらに、スピン軌道相互作用による磁壁のトラップメカニズムを提案し、レーストラックメモリへの応用への新しい可能性を示したいと考えている。
