| Research Abstract |
The aims for the present year :
1. To finish the work of classifying Kaji Wataru materials itself.
2. To complete the list of Kaji Wataru materials.
In the previous years we finished the work required for preserving thematerial and making it available for researchers, and started examining the contents of the documents.
As we proceed with the examination this year, it was disclosed that the previous works contained several errors in dating individual documents and in analyzing their meanings, and that our first manuscript of its list also had not a few mistakes and irrevancies.
So we undertook first a thorough reexamination of individual documents, then, on that base, fundamental remaking of the list. As the result, as for the aims, 1 and 2, they were mostly achieved, and the basic conditions for its preservation and use are fulfiled, though a few minor doubts still remain.
But as the above mentioned work claimed us for more energy than we had expected, as for the research of the material from the side of the contemporary literature, we are forced to leave it as our future task.
Speaking of the other aims included in our original purpose :
3. To make the correct chronology of Kaji Wataru, during the period concerned.
4. To examine the mistakes and disagreements in his own memories.
5. To refer to the chinese material about Kaji Wataru.
In the course of our work, these matters turned out to be crutially necessary for dating and analyzing the material, and we have worked on them too, and attained some results. though we need a bit more effort and time to make them mare thorough, they are to be published before long.
