| Research Abstract |
The object of this research is to establish a new method for evaluating the inner pore structure of porous materials, such as porous anodized aluminum electrodes, porous glasses, silica catalyst supports, and inorganic metal oxide catalysts.
The process of this technique includes that (1) vacuum heating of both a monomer of replicating polymer and porous samples in a vacuum cell, (2) mixing in vacuum, (3) introducing of air into the vacuum cell, (4) polymerizing of the monomer, (5) crushing of the polymer-porous sample complex, (6) dissolution of of thD porous sample, (7) observation of the replica of the pore structure by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
The characteristic of this research is that the successful selection of a phenol novolak epoxy resin (Araldite), which is resistant to acid corrosion and vacuum heating, ane this replication method can be adapted to the evaluation of pore structure of variuos kinds of porous materials. Following porous materials have been observed by this method.
