Research Abstract |
1. Japanese ancient Keyhole tombs, located in Osaka and Nara Prefectures, have been surveyed and their data have also been updated. It follows that we can stand in a reliable situation for statistical analyses on shapes of the tombs. 2. Principal components analysis has been introduced to find the two dominant components that are effective for classification of the Keyhole tombs. In addition, it has experimentally been shown that the first component is strongly correlated to the chronological order of the ancient tombs. 3. An interactive knowledge-based system for restoration of the ancient tomb has been designed and implemented on a work station. This system, named ESRAT, stores the above statistical knowledge as charts, tables and frames. 4. Aiming to visualize the restored ancient tombs, a basic software of 3D computer graphics has been developed and implememted. This software includes data modeling and ray-tracing algorithm. The computer environment for 3D visualization has experimentally been established. Some examples of the ancient tombs have already been restored and visualized.
