Research Abstract |
Instrumentation for the measurement of surface vibrational sum-frequency generation (SFG) spectroscopy has been made by way of a mode-locked ND : YAG laser (Qantel YG501C-10) and a homemade parametric oscillator amplifier. Ultra high-vacuum chamber has also been constructed to use for the SFG measurement of the adsorbates or surface bonds on well-defined single crystal surfaces. The SFG spectroscopy has been made on the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films of cadmium arachidate in atmospheric condition and on the formate ion sorbed on MgO (100) surface under ultrahigh vacuum. It was confirmed that the developed device is capable of detecting adsorbates at 0.2 monolayers.
