| Research Abstract |
今年度は、1990年11月、12月に南パタゴニア地域のウプサラ、モレノ、チンダルの三氷河にて実施した現地調査結果の解析、研究成果のとりまとめを行い、以下の成果を得た。
1.氷河の表面高度:チンダル氷河では、1985年の測量結果と比較することにより、過去5年間に20mの表面低下が明らかとなった。
2.氷河末端の変動:現地調査結果と、過去の空中写真、ランドサット画像と重ね合わせることにより、ウプサラ氷河は過去20〜30年間後退傾向にあり、一方モレノ氷河は概ね平衡状態にあることが明らかとなった。北パタゴニア氷原では、いずれの氷河も後退傾向を示しているが、同氷原西側の氷河の方が東側より後退の速度が著しいことが認められた。
3.氷河流動:ウプサラ氷河の中央モレ-ン付近では、3.6m/日という著しく大きい速度が得られた。モレノ氷河とチンダル氷河の横断線に沿う速度は、それぞれ0.38〜2.0m/日、0.07〜0.51m/日であった。
4.氷厚と氷河構造:チンダル氷河では、側岸から3km地点で最大氷厚600mが得られた。この他、氷河上のモレ-ン、フォリエイション分布を調べ、氷河動力学的考察を行った。
5.気象状態:チンダル氷河では、融水量と積算気温との関係は、気象要素に強く依存することが示された。
6.氷河周辺の地形:氷河性堆積物、モレ-ンおよび氷食地形の分布をもとに、同地域の氷河地形学的特性が調べられた。
以上の成果の内、8篇の論文をBulletin of Glacier Researchに投稿し、他の5篇の報文とともに総合報告書として平成3年度末に出版する。また、上記1の研究項目の再測定のために、平成5年度の国際学術研究にて申請し、1993年に調査実施を希望している。
