Research Abstract

1 分子鎖の滑り易いmobile相で結晶化させることにより、厚い伸びきり鎖結晶が生成することが彦坂らの滑り拡散理論で予言された。この予言が新たにポリオルガノホスファゼンとポリビニリデンフロライド(PVDF)の共重合体で確かめられた。PVDFの共重合体の厚いラメラ結晶は強誘電性高分子の強誘電性と耐熱性を大幅に改善することがわかり結晶化の制御による物性の改善の有効さが実証された。また高分子の新しい結晶成長機構である厚化成長がポリエチレン(PE)について定量的に観測され、更に結晶形態との関係も検討され、厚化成長機構解明への重要な手がかりが得られた。
2 折りたたみ鎖単結晶の外形が結晶化温度とともに著しく変化することがPEで示されトピックスとなっているが、その理由が核生成頻度と核成長速度の相対的な関係で説明され、従来不明であったミクロな核の挙動が実験的に検討できることが示された。また従来軽視されてきたランダム系中での分子鎖の振舞いを考慮にいれた結晶化機構の理論的取り扱いが、試みられた。
3 PE、ポリプロピレンなどの高分子が、互いに表面においてエピタキシャルに成長できることが系統的に研究され、結晶化を分子レベルで制御しうる可能性を明らかにした。
4 混合系の結晶化では、異種分子の混入により球晶の形態を著しく変えることができることがわかった。これは現在なお未解決である球晶形態形成機構解明に重要な手がかりとなるものである。また結晶化と相分離の競合や、異種分子同士の拡散機構の違いなどにより、多成分系には独特な形態が形成されることが示された。
