Research Abstract |
We studied and discussed broad topics of queuing systems concerning information and communication network technology, such as communication protocol in information network, performance evaluation methods for network, reliability evaluation for network and so on. We had about 20 monthly meetings for these two years co-operating with Research Group on Queuing Models in Operations Research Society of Japan. Every time, 20-30 members living near Tokyo area attended meetings. We also held the special 3-day long symposium on the theses once a year. Totally over 130 researchers including graduate school students from universities and active companies. Many topics were presented as seen in the formal report. At these symposiums, modeling and performance evaluation methods for ATM network, which would become an important and main network technology in coming ISDN ages, were mainly discussed. Specially, thoughts on modelling for input streams with bursty properties added to ISDN were studied by many researchers. I feel new interesting problems and fields which are requested to be solved urgently are continually born with the Information and Communication Network Ages developing.
