Research Abstract |
1) Progress of democratization of the union organizations Decision making procedure which supports democracy is constituted by two elements. One is decision making and the other, agreement. Among enterprise unions of Japan, democratization of the union organization is progressing comparatively well. 2) The enlargement of the labor union's function The activity of labor unions has come to cover widely various aspects of the lives of the workers. The role of labor unions has enlarged. 3) Three Types of decision making Most of the labor unions of Japan have agreement type of decision making. In case of industrial unions, there are rely-on type and commitment type decision making in addition to the first type. This difference comes from the fact that industrial unions are the united body of organizations. 4) The future of enterprise unions Firstly,the small size enterprise unions will be gathered according to specific industries. As a result, the size of the organizations will enlarge and the activity of labor unions will become more important. Secondly large size enterprise unions will be united, developing into even larger organizations. The integrated organizations and their unit organizations have different functions. The center of labor union movement, however, is the unit organization, that is, the enterprise union.
