Research Abstract |
Artificial saliva (pH7.0) containing various concentrations of CMC, Ca/P and fluoride consisted of the following three levels, respectively : 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5% for CMC ; 1.0/0.6,2.0/1.2 and 3.0/1.8mmol for Ca/P and 1.0,2.0 and 3.0ppm for fluoride. The optimal artificial saliva was determined as that which produced the highest fluoride incorporation in the remineralized enamel in vitro by a factorial experiment (3 factors, 3 levels). The optimal artificial saliva was also evaluated by questionair in vivo. The results were as follows: 1) The spontainious precipitation was not observed both in the solution and on the demineralized enamel surface. 2) Judging from the highest fluoride incorporation at the first layer and the feature of acid resistance, the remineralizing solution containing 1.0% CMC, 3.0/1.8mmol Ca/P and 2.0ppm fluoride seemed to be an optimal remineralizing solution. 3) The taist of artificial saliva was too salty because of containing 150mM NaCl in the solution. 4) Reducing the concentration of NaCl from 150 to 50mM resulted in no spontanious precipitation and could improve the taist. Combinding all these data, we confirmed that the most optimal artificial saliva was containing 1.0% CMC, 3.0/1.8mM Ca/P, 2.0ppm fluoride and 50mM NaCl.
