Research Abstract |
The first meeting was held on 5, 6 and 7 August 1991 at the University of Queensland for all to report each research theme and its abstract and to exchange opinions among nine members including five Japanese and four Australians. A Secretariat of Queensland State Government and two management staffs of an Australian-Japanese joint corporation came to this meeting and gave us some important information for our research. From 18 to 18 August each member made his and her field work in and around Brisbane, in Sydney and in Canberra to make interviews and to collect materials. We held the second meeting on 19 and 20 August and each reported the result of field work. After that each member made his field work again, till he came back to Japan. The third and final meeting was held on 4, 5 and 6 October at Otemon Gakuin University. Professor Tisdell, who came to Japan already by invitation of Toyama University, joined us. We exchanged research results and decided details to publish our report. Our research result is to publish on the Otemon Bulletin for Australian Studies Vol. 17 which is now under printing. It must be valued as the first precious report in Japan about Japan-Australia economic relations in the 1990s, the writer thinks.
