Research Abstract |
Biosensor is a novel analytical system which is available for clinical testing, industrial process control and environmental monitoring. Recently Prof. Karube's group has succeeded miniaturization and mass production of biosensors using silicon fabrication technology. This project aims at promotion of cooperational researches with French and Germany groups. We especially focus on development of micro-biosensors and their applications. Prof. Tamiya stayed at Braunschweig Institute Technology and investigated odorant sensor using piezoelectric crystal coated with artificial lipid which newly was synthesized by prof. Schmidt group. Dr. Tamiya examined possiblity of stable odorant sensor. He discussed with prof. Marty. Perpignan Univ. about pesticide sensor. Prof. Marty's doctor student will stay for 1 and half year at Prof. Karube's lab to promote this project. Dr. Yokoyama stayed at Prof. Comtat lab in Paul Sabatier University. Prof. Comtat has studied electrochemical NAD recyclng system a

nd applied to biosensors using dehydrogenases. Dr. Yokoyama fabricated microbiosensors for determination of lactic acid using a miro Pt electrode immobilized lactate dehydrogenased and diaphorase. This ia one of actual products supported by this cooperational project. Dr. Suzuki investigated researches about immobilization of enzymes for integration of micro-biosensors. Photocrosslinking polymer used in prof. Karube lab is useful for immobilization of enzymes on multi-printed electrodes which are produced by Prof. Schmidt lab in Braunschweig Institute Technology. Prof. Coulet in Lyon Univ. used a simple immobilization method. Only immersion in enzyme solution gives covalent bonding between membrane and enzyme. Prof. Kubo discussed with Prof. Thomas in Compiegne Univ. who was interested in sensors for control of bioreactors. Minituarized and integrated bosensors are powerful tools for monitoring of bioreactors. Prof. Kubo visited Prof. Marty lab in Perpignan Univ. and discussed about biosensors for environmental analyses. Carbon dioxide sensor is requried for fabrication of French pecicide sensors. Japanese group supply carbon dioxide sensors to French side in order to support French group. Dr. Seki Madea colloboration with Prof. Coulet in Lyon University. He fabricated ISFET biosensor based on LB membrane. ISFET is one of useful transducers for micro-biosensors. LB techniques may be powerful tool for immobilization of biomaterials. Prof. Sato and Kajiwara also took parts in this project. They visited Compiegne Univ. Paul Sabatie Univ. and Perpignan Univ. in order to investigate researches about novel biosensors based on thermal detection. Prof. Karube discussed with Prof. Thomas and Prof. Schmidt about promotion of this project. They concluded that this project should be continued for making fruitful results. Less
