Research Abstract |
1.By the optical microscope composed with a telescope at eyepiece and, with a dark field object lens and with YAG laser beam and He-Ne laser beam, a new optical system has been developed to manipulate the small particles with determining the shape and size from the diffraction patterns of particles trapped in the liquid by YAG laser beam. 2.It was clarified that the trapped particles of which diameter were over 1 mum, by radiation force, could be steadily manipulated by the scanned laser beam in the horizontal plane in the atmosphere. 3.It was recognized that there were some possibility, which could remove and eliminate particles of which diameter was over 1 mum by horizontally scanning direct beam of Ar laser, and which could separate the particles in each shape or size with discriminating technique analyzing diffraction pattern from particles. A new manipulation technique for the large particles with determining the shape, size and species was proposed. 4.To eliminate the particles, it was clarified that the Gaussian intensity distribution of the laser beam had to be definitely preserved in the laser barrier. 5.In experiments, it was recognized that smoke particles of which diameter were under 0.1 mum were sent flying to the anti-progressive direction of incident laser beam at all position. A new technique has been proposed to eliminate or collect the small particles like as smoke particles or radioisotope particles suspended in the air.
