Research Abstract	重点領域研究の総括班としての活動は以下の通りである。 1.総括班会議の開催。合計4回の班会議を開催し,研究計画の立案シンポジウムおよびワ-クショップの計画実行。研究交流の企画を行った。さらに下部組織として実行委員会をもうけ,計画の実行に当らせると共に,研究成果の交流をはかり研究を推進するために,重点領域ニュ-スレタ-を刊行し,NO.6からNO.9までを発刊した。また,「紙上討論」と題し,脳の情報表現など,いくつかのテ-マでの討論の特集を開始した。 2.夏のワ-クショップ:研究を推進するため蓼科高原において,8月27〜29日の3日間,「思考と行動への挑戦」をテ-マとするワ-クショップを開催した。班員を含め合計200名を越す参加者があり,脳の高次機能研究の戦略をめぐって,多くの研究発表と活発な討論が行なわれた。 3.第2回シンポジウムの開催:脳の高次機能の研究成果を公開する目的で,日本都市センタ-において,「脳とニュ-ラルネットー思考と行動」と題するシンポジウムを開催した。参加者は300名にものぼり,たいへんな盛況であった。なお、本シンポジウムにおける講演の一部は,成果として公開される予定である。 4.冬のワ-クショップ:夏に比べてより実質的な研究交流を行う目的で、1月7〜9日の3日間,蔵王温泉において冬のワ-クショップを開催した。参加人員は約60名で,実質的な討議が深夜におよぶまで行なわれた。
