Research Abstract |
We tried to apply the newly developed industrial method "LASER Lithography" to the dental (medical) field. As this method is for the Rapid Prototyping of the industrial product, we can fabricate any kind of real shape model only with its contour data. So in this study we succeeded in fabricating some models as follows : 1.We fabricated the craniofacial skeletal model of the jaw deformity patient from CT data. 2.We fabricated the resin pattern of the crown from 3-D measured data of the prepared tooth and average tooth crown form. Then this resin pattern was converted to the metal through Lost Wax Casting Method. 3.Skin covered skeletal model including the brain was fabricated from MRI data. 4.Mountain model was fabricated from the geographical data. 5.Resin model of the dental arch was fabricated from 3-D measured data for orthodontic analysis. 6.Famous "Posselt's Figure" (Range of the mandibular movement measured at the incisal point) was fabricated from 3-D measured jaw movement data. 7.We confirmed the designed crown form using LASER Lithography through CAD/CAM process of titanium crown fabrication. 8.Enamel prism of the dog tooth was fabricated from traced contour data with microscopy.
