Research Abstract

This study dealt with the relationships among land prices and gross national products, average income of worker, consumer price index, and interest rates, especially in the urbanized areas in Kinki region. Trend of farmland price has been closely related to the general trend of non-farmland price for commercial and residential usages.
The study areas were selected in the suburban districts of Kobe City and Moriyama City (Shiga Prefecture). Positive preference and higher evaluation on open space, farmland, and natural environment were shown by residents in the suburban villages. Simultaneously, the desirabilities for allotments, leisure and recreation farms, and landscape of agriculture and natural environment were strongly conceived by urban residents in Osaka City.
