原子直視電子顕微鏡とTV画像処理による極微小高速原子運動直視の研究と応用

Research Abstract

高分解能電子顕微鏡で観察中の結晶格子内原子が電子照射にともない局所的に原子格子間隔(〜2A^^○)以下の動きでゆらぎを生じていることを可視化するためTVとコンピュータを併用し記録画面の引き算を試み、原子間隔の1/10程度以上の変動(0.2A^^○)を1/30秒以上の微小時間範囲内で観察記録することを精度よく、かつ高能率で実施することができた。
この実施における過程と成果は次の如くである
1)画像処理装置オリンパスAVIOXL-500およびタイムベースコレクター(ビクターSAT400)を購入し用いた。
2)XL-500をパソコンで操作し、微小変動をする原子とその変動量を検出するカラー画像を得た。これはすでに何度か行った実験とプログラムの改造により画像処理を施した結果で満足な成果を得た。
3)カルフォルニア大学バークレイ校を訪ねNCEMの1MV原子分解電子顕微鏡(ARM)を用いてSiおよびPtの規則正しい完全格子に800kVの電子を照射し、加速電圧を一部変えて、その原子格子像をビデオテープに記録した。これを本方法で像解析を行なった。これの成果は照射損傷の素過程について考察が行えるレベルにまで達している。
4)Ni50Ti50の形状記憶合金を用い、それがマルテンサイトよりオーステナイトにかわり始める温度(75℃)から、それがかわり終るまでの温度にわたり原子の動きを追跡しVTRに記録した。像のドリフトを防止していくつかのデータを得ることができた。結晶の方位を微細に調整すれば原子移動が直接観察できるまでに達した。現在の段階では試料方位の調整が75℃付近の高温ででは完全にはできなかったので決定な結果はまだ得られていない。これについては研究を続行中なので近々結果が出せるものと考えている。
