有機単分子膜の光・変位電流機能とトンネル電子伝導機構及びその電子素子応用

Research Abstract

本研究は基本的な誘電体電気物性の立場に立ち、光刺激による有機単分子膜の分極変化を申請者らの開発した変位電流法により測定・解析すること、単分子膜のトンネル電子伝導を測定し、電導機構を解明することを目指した。さらには分子膜の電子素子応用を目指し研究を試みた。本研究で得られた主な成果は以下の通りである。
1.申請者は水面上において単分子膜の電気物性を評価する技術として変位電流測定を用いる方法を開発し、確立した。そこで、本研究ではこの技術の上にたち、水面上での単分子膜の光・変位電流変換機能を制御し、その電子素子応用を目指して、光変換機能をもつ分子に新たな膜を混合した系により変位電流を観測し、光・変位電流変換機能の制御に成功した。
2.Air gap付きの金属/単分子膜/Air gap/金属構造の素子を作製し、電流計を通した閉回路にて、光刺激による単分子膜の構造変化に起因する変位電流波形の検出を行ない、単分子膜の光一変位電流変換機能の研究及び基板上単分子膜の物性評価を行なった。ここでは、アゾ系分子のシスートランスの光異性化に着目して、固体基盤上の単分子膜の光・変位電流変換に基づく光記憶素子の基盤技術が確立できた。
3.2.に加え、基板上有機多層膜において、単分子層間の電荷移動にともなう変位電流の検出に成功し、新たな光・変位電流変換機構を見出し、光記録素子の基板技術を確立できた。
4.ポリイミドLB超薄膜を用いて、有機超薄膜を絶縁層としたトンネル接合素子を作製し、この素子を用いて、ポリイミドLB膜の弾性及び非弾性のトンネル電子伝導の測定を行なった。その結果、ポリイミドLB膜中のトンネル伝導には、非弾性の成分はほとんど含まれない事が見出された。さらに、非弾性トンネルの測定法を用い、ポリイミド膜の不純物準位やバリアの高さ等を見積もり、電子素子応用への基礎物性が得られた。
以上の4つの結果より、有機単分子膜及び分子電子素子材料の基礎と応用に向けた手がかりが得られた。
