Research Abstract	今年度は本重点領域研究の最終年度であり、計画研究班員43名と公募研究者30名とが参加し、研究の仕上げに向けてそれぞれの課題に取り組み、計算手法の開発および物性現象の解明が進んだ。その成果は平成6年度の「成果とりまとめ」で、日本物理学会の学術雑誌Journal of the Physical Society of Japanの特別号として刊行する予定で準備を進めている。本研究計画(総括班)としての活動は昨年度と同様、領域全体研究会の開催(1月10〜12日、東京青山会館)、および、領域ニュースレターの発行等を行なった他、下記の総括班企画研究会を開催した。また、これまでの研究の進捗状況から計算機器の充実がさらに必要と判断された研究グループへの設備費の支援を行なった。さらに、今後の計算物性物理の展開にとって並列計算手法の導入は不可欠との判断から、並列手法の専門家のコンサルトを得て、そのためのアルゴリズムの開発研究を行なった。領域研究の最終年度であることから、今年度は各計画研究班の研究会を充実させ、領域研究者の研究成果を詳しく討議した。同じ考え方から、今年度の領域全体研究会でも領域研究者の研究発表に絞った運営を行なったが、異なる研究班の研究者が共通の計算手法を用いた研究成果を中心にして活発な討論がなされた。これは、本領域研究の目標の一つである「物性研究における横断的計算手法の開発」が所期の成果を挙げたことを示すものと考えている。総括班企画研究会としては「量子系、マルコフ系およびハミルトン力学系の高精度計算」を開催し(6月13〜15日、箱根)、指数関数演算子等の高次分解についての基礎と応用を集中的に議論した。
