Research Abstract	本領域研究は、ハードウェアを含めた計算物理学的手法を飛躍的に向上させ、それを駆使することによって物性物理学の諸問題を解明することを目的とした。平成5年度までの3年間の領域研究活動によって、領域研究者の計算機環境は著しく向上し、4つの研究班それぞれにおいて重要な研究成果をあげた。今年度は、その「成果とりまとめ」の活動として、研究成果報告書(冊子体)の編集、および、研究成果の総括と今後の展望を議論するための領域研究会の開催に取り組んだ。報告書編集については、研究成果報告書であると同時に、研究内容の入門的な解説も含む、本研究分野の総合的なレビュー書とする目的で、全ての研究成果を網羅的に掲載することはせず、テーマを重要な研究成果に絞り込むように編集を進めた。これを日本物理学会が刊行する単行本(英文)として出版するために、平成7年度の研究成果公開促進費の申請を行なった。領域研究会は12月19-20日、東大物性研で開催し、本領域研究で得られた研究成果を踏まえた今後の研究の展開について重点的な議論を行なった。その際、計算機の並列処理による計算の大規模化、高速化が重要かつ緊急な問題であるとの認識を深め、この問題に対するさらに詳しい検討を行なうために、1月31日と2月22日に東大物性研で研究小集会を開催した。特に、平成7年度から東大物性研で稼働が予定されている、全国共同利用の並列スーパーコンピュータの具体的な活用に関する検討が行なわれた。「計算物性物理」分野の今後のさらなる発展が期待される。
