Research Abstract	西部北太平洋の富栄養から貧栄養の外洋水域及び赤道湧昇海域を対象にして、オーシャン・フラックスの加速・減速要因として重要な生物粒子の一次生成過程を、生成量と生成物の質の相違の両者の把握を目的として研究を行なった。具体的な作業としては、昨年度までに実施した研究航海の試料と結果の解析、それに基づいてさらに海洋現場での観測と実験を行なった。その結果、人工衛星NIMBUSに搭載されていたCZCSとNOAAのAVHRRの2つの海色センサーによる同一海域・同時期での表層域でのクロロフィル濃度と海表面温度の推定が可能となり、日本海と太平洋の日本近海を対象に両者の検討を行ない、海洋温度環境と一次生産の対応関係を明らかにした。これらの結果は今後打ち上げ予定の海色センサーSeaWIFSやOCTSの計画に反映されている。また、人工衛星情報の利用で一次生産の時間変動と空間変動の把握が可能になった。本研究で工夫した海洋での一次生産の測定法を用いて各水域で一次生産を実測し、各種の海洋環境との対応を詳細に検討し、一次生産過程に対する環境の律速過程を解析した。特に、ここでは栄養環境に着目し、湧昇により亜表層水が湧昇して有光層へ栄養物質を添加している海山域で、栄養物質による一次生産の刺激効果、さらにその際の植物プランクトン群集に対する選択刺激効果を解析した。これらの結果を踏まえて、富栄養及び貧栄養海域での一次生産過程の特徴を検討した。また、エルニーニョ現象と一次生産の大きさの関係を過去の長期観測データの整理で検討し、エルニーニョの発達した年に日本近海での生産性の高まることを発見した。
