Research Abstract	銅酸化物では,強い相関をもつ2次元的性格の電子系が常識をくつがえすような物性を示し,高温超伝導を発現させている。この系の物理の奥深さは,その記述のために金属の新概念構築を迫っているようでもある。超伝導発現機構の解明もこの新しい記述法の完成と連動している。この観点から本研究では常伝導・超伝導双方の状態の物性を総合的に調べてきた。特にこの電子系の物理的特徴を最もよく反映するものとして低エネルギー励起研究に力を注いだ。La系とY系のNMRや中性子散乱から得られた磁気励起の振舞にはスピン相関が格子とそれぞれ不整合・整合であるなど一見してかなりの違いがあるが、これらはフェルミ面の形状差を考慮すれば説明できる事が多い。Y系の磁気励起スペクトルにスピンギャップと呼ばれる構造をTcよりかなり上の温度から現われることを,NMRや中性子散乱,輸送現象測定によって確認し,その振舞の正孔濃度依存性を詳しく調べた。また不純物効果によりTcが下降もしくは消失した試料でのその変化の様子を調べ,スピンギャップと超伝導との関連について具体的知見を得た。また多くの物理量がこの磁気励起によって決定づけられていることを明確にした。多くの場合,単結晶試料が用いられ,微視的実験によってこれらの結果が得られている故に,曖昧さが残されていないので,理論的モデルの取捨選択に今後重要な影響を与えよう。特にスピン一重項電子対形成を考慮したt-Jモデルによる相図との関連がひとつひとつ議論でき,新しい概念構築の作業もかなり具体的内容を伴った段階にはいってきた。他の実験的研究も順調に進み,超音波による格子のソフト化と超伝導との競合の観測,光電子分光の高分解能化による超伝導ギャップの観測,モット・ハバード系と電荷移動系とにおける金属一絶縁体転移近傍での比熱の振舞の差異の明確化等がなされた。
