Research Abstract	高温超伝導体の異常物性を理解するため,その電子系に対する新しい物理概念の構築と,それに連動した超伝導機構解明とを目的として,詳細な実験研究をその常伝導・超伝導双方の状態について進めた。その結果まず銅酸化物が反強磁性モット絶縁体近傍に位置する“異常金属相"として鮮明に認識された。またこれが従来のモット転移と異なる新型金属・絶縁体転移を有するものであることが,低温電子比熱や高温輸送特性の測定結果から実証された。この“異常金属相"と“スピンギャップ"との関連が具体性をもって論じられるようになった事も重要である。“スピンギャップ"はNMRや中性子散乱によりその存在が指摘され注目されていたものであるが,NMR横緩和率1/T_<2G>の測定や,CuO_2面の面間の電荷ダイナミックスの実験的解明により,よりはっきりと姿を現わしてきた。またモット絶縁体相近傍にある銅酸化物以外の強相関電子系の物性との比較検討もなされはじめ,高温超伝導の舞台である“異常金属相"に対する理解の網が実験サイドからも急速にせばめられた。超伝導状態の研究はNMR,中性子散乱,STM/STS,超音波測定,高分解能光電子分光等によって進められ,ギャップの異方性の存在を示すデータが多く得られている。これらはα波のオーダーパラメーターを示すようであるが,NMR1/T_<2G>の測定からは低温でS波にうつりかわるという指摘もなされ,今後の研究のポイントとなっている。高温超伝導に対する不純物効果の実験も精力的になされ,対称性に関する有用な情報が得られた。また多くの実験結果の解釈にランダムネスの効果の考慮が重要であることが示された。他にいわゆる1/8問題の謎がほぼ解明されたこと,Hg系のTcへの圧力効果測定によって,常圧での超伝導転移温度がさらに上昇する可能性が示されたこと等も注目される。
