| Research Abstract |
With as its central theme "An Ecological Interaction Network Promoting the Coexistence of Many Species, " a "Scientific Research on Priority Areas" project has been conducted through a close collaboration among many scientists of diverse expertise. It has been extended for four years from April 1991 through March 1995. This group has been in charge of administrating the research project and the task of this group in the academic year 1995 has been to examine, synthesize and evaluate the results of the four-year research project in collaboration with the project participants and outside experts. To this end, we have carried out the following activities :
1.To organize several workshops on "plant-animal interaction, " which has been the theme for one of the core researches in the project. These have resulted in a prospect toward a new "Scientific Research on Priority Areas" project.
2.To continue the publication of a book series from the research project, "Ecology of Symbiosis, " which was started in 1994.
3.All the participants of the research project have summarized the main points of their research results.
4.Based on these written material, we have examined and evaluated the results from the research project in terms of what contribution it has been made on the ecology of Japan as a whole.
5.We have produced a volume of final reports from the research project.
