| Research Abstract |
銀河系の構造と進化の問題は観測的宇宙論の展開の出発点である。その問題の解決には,位置天文学から宇宙論にわたる広範な知見の総合が必要である。今年度の目標は,前年度における広範な研究分野のReviewをふまえて,恒星の運動学的・物理学的データを最大限に活用して,銀河系の構造と進化に関するスタンダード・モデルをを完成させることであった。
この目標達成のため、昨年度に引き続き「銀河系天文学とスペース・アストロメトリ研究会」(1994年2月1日-4日,洞爺湖畔)を開催し,Astrometry,Galactic Structure and Dynamics,Merging of Galaxies,Evolution of Galaxies,Clusters of Galaxies,Universeの6つのセッションを通して非常に活発な研究交流が行われた。この研究会の内容は研究会集録に収められている。今年度予算の大部分は,この研究会開催のために使われた。
この総合研究をきっかけとして,国際的に影響力をもついくつかの優れた論文が出版された(11.研究発表参照),Bulge,Barr,Diskの構造と進化については,見透しがついてきたように思われるが,銀河系全体の唯一のスタンダード・モデルの完成には至らなかった。
