Research Abstract

The importance of flexible automated manufacturing systems such as FMS(Flexible Manufacturing system) and FTL(Flexible Transfer Line)have increased considerably from both the aspects of sales strategy and production facilities.
At present, a basic necessity is to establish a system design methodology which enables the flexible manufacturing structure of hierarchical modular construction system based on a new design concept to be systematically and rationally realized.
It is, however, a fact that no related research works have been carried so far out.
In this research program, therefore, to establish a future ultra flexible manufacturing structure, a system design methodology and its related kernel technologies for cubic cell of mobile type has been proposed. As a result, the following available results could be obtained.
(1)Proposals of system design concept and a design methodology of ultra flexible manufacturing structure based on the cubic cell of mobile type.
(2)Development of sensor fusion system incorporated with neural network and knowledge base to identify the machining status of cell.
(3)Proposals of thermal deformation constrained structure and active cooling controlmethod of heat source within the cell structure.
(4)Proposals of recognition methods of macro scene of cells and local scene of cell. High performance positioning technology of cell.
(5)Development of computer aided design system with information generating function of manufacturing facilities.
(6)Proposal of machining cell configuration based on thought model suitable for culture of manufacturing and Development of the computer aided process planning system of flair type.
