Research Abstract	将来の重点領域研究を目指した本研究では、まず重点領域申請を相定した研究グループごとに、これまでの日本における研究の成果、今後の重要課題、国内研究で立ち遅れている分野のサーベイを行うこととし、以下のような一連のワークショップ(WS)を企画・実行した。 a)惑星探査計画WS(1993年1月21日開催:参加者60名) b)小惑星・彗星の起源と探査,太陽系始原物質の研究と分析技術の確立合同WS(1992年11月17,18日開催:参加者18名) c)微惑星の衝撃破壊WS(1992年12月5日開催:参加者27名) d)惑星集積過程の理論WS(1992年12月4日開催:参加者27名) e)原始地球環境の進化と生命WS(1992年7月18〜20日開催:参加者9名) f)原始惑星系円盤WS(1992年5月18日開催:参加者43名) 更に、上記ワークショップの総括及び本重点領域申請へ向けた最終準備のため、1993年1月19〜20日に合同シンポジウム(於東京工業大学:参加者数95名)を開催した。この中で、まず、各ワークショップ世話人または幹事から、各分野の研究のレビューと今後重点的に研究すべきテーマについて報告があった。それらをもとに班構成の妥当性、各班毎の予想される成果、班相互の協力関係及び相互批判のあり方について、つっこんだ議論を行い、その結果は3月の重点領域研究申請として結実した。
