Research Abstract	最近10年間の免易学的ならびに分子生物学的研究の進歩は、免疫応答系を構成する各要素についての構造および機能に関する理解をもたらした。すなわち免疫グロブリン遺伝子やT細胞レセプター遺伝子の全構造と再編成の機序、免疫細胞の機能分化に伴うレセプターや表面抗原マーカーの発現機序、リンパ球の分化成熟の分子機構、多数のサイトカインとその受容体の遺伝子構造と発現および機能、HLA分子の構造と免疫応答の遺伝的制御機構などについての多くの知見が得られている。しかしながら、これらの要素が個体レベルでどのように関連し合い、免疫応答を調節しているのか、その破綻がどのようにして免疫病の発症につながるのか、あるいは各要素を個体レベルでどのように調和を保たせながら免疫病を補正しているのか等については、ほとんど理解されていないのが現状である。従って、本研究班では、次年度に発足する重点領域研究「免疫制御・寛容の分子機構」のための研究研画の検討および研究班、研究班員の構成の立案のため、班員による3回の班会議を行った。その結果、免疫制御と寛容の分子機構の解明のために、免易制御、免疫寛容、免疫病の3つの柱についてそれぞれの分子機構を解明する研究研画を立案した。さらに我国における国際的にも高く評価される免疫学者・分子生物学者・細胞遺伝学者の多くが集結した「免疫制御・寛容の分子機構」ワークショップを開催し、先鋭的な研究を円滑に行うための研究対象、研究方法論、今後の研究動向などに関する充分な討議を行った。
