胚珠の構造からみた種子植物の初期進化の解明

Research Abstract	種子植物の初期進化を明らかにする手掛かりとして、北海道産の白亜紀有組織化石の解剖学的研究と記載をおこない、あらたに、スギ科の2新属2種、マツ科の1新属2新種、ナンヨウスギ科の1新種を発表し、中生代後期の針葉樹類生殖器官の構造に多くの新知見を加えた。また、ソテツ系の絶滅群、キカデオイデア目の花化石の解剖にもとずいて、古生代石炭紀初期までの種子植物成立時に、種子(胚珠)の構造に大きく2つの系統が識別できることを示唆した。この結果は、1992年8月に、フランス、パリで開催された、第4回国際古植物学会議において、A permineralized Cycadeoidalean flower from the Upper Cretaceous of Hokkaido and its evolutionary signifioanceの題で、講演発表した。種子植物の胚珠構造は、すべての群にわたって広範な見直しが必要で裸子植物においては、胚珠構造が多くの化石にもとずいて、現生するいろいろな科についての知見が増加した事は意義深い。また、スギ科との系統関係が議論されている、ヒノキ科の化石もあらたに記載することができ、両者の系統関係を化石から解明する糸口となった。ナンヨウスギ科の球果では、現生種と比較できる胚珠珠口付近の特徴や、胚の構造が明らかになり、現生属内の4つの節との比較が可能となった。現在、さらに新しい節を構成すると思われる化石を記載中である。被子植物については、原始的な朔果を形成する興味深い化石を記載中で、日本植物分類学会(1993年3月)において、予備的な講演をおこなった。白亜紀中期の被子植物では、すでに胚珠にかなりの特殊化がおきていることが明らかになった。現生種のうち、特に注目しているイチョウの胚珠については、花季の材料集収が間に合わず、継続して研究中である。
