Research Abstract	日本における組立ライン自動化についての予備実態調査を行ない、主要自動車メーカーの最新自動化工場を中心に、組立自動化の現状と問題点を整理することに着手し、さらに日本及び海外の組立ライン自動化・生産システム関連の文献を収集し、從耒の学術的業績を検討しつつ、アンケートによる予備実態調査を試みた。予備実態調査では、自動化の目的と動機、工程別詳細に関するアンケートを設計し、日本の自動車メーカー11社よりの回答を得た。このアンケート結果の分析により、自動化に関する問題工程、先進工程を洗い出し、これら工程にしぼった実態調査をヒヤリングも加味して実施した。さらに海外共同研究者と日本及び欧州、アメリカにおける共同予備調査をも実施したが、これらの成果は、日本での国際ワークショップ(11月19日〜21日 1993年於法政大学)においてResearch Paperないし working paperとして発表され、海外から參加した32名の研究者及び産業人ともども突込んだ討論がなされ大きな成果をあげた。またこの会議の直後に日本の3つの新鋭自動化工場の共同調査とそこでの意見交換も今後の研究の方向づけに欠かせない材料を提供してくれたと信じられる。このような研究調査を通じ、自動車生産システムの自動化、とくに労働集約的総組立自動化について、単純にコストダウンと無人化だけを追求する戦略が国際的にみても大きな壁にぶつかっており、組立自動化の将耒のあり方について組立作業の人間化と多能化ないし知能工的熟練の高度化へ向けての新しい試みが各国、各メーカーそれぞれのやり方で進行していることが明らかになった。
